In 2007 shortly after being given the habit of the Ecumenical OPD Community and making promises as a sister in the community, Sr. Dominica Marie, OPD founded the Warmth of Love Ministry.
The Warmth of Love community of volunteers is a network of friends of the OPD Community who provide prayers and comfort to the sick and their families. The ministry provides hade-made blankets to the sick. Originally founded to provide blankets to those on kidney dialysis to carry and use during treatments, the ministry quickly grew and provided hundreds of blankets to those suffering with any illness. "In addition to helping so many new friends, I wanted to do this in honor of my nephew and nephew's wife who had cancer i'm glad to have the ability to reach people through the blog and can't wait to get started," -Sr. Dominica Marie, OPD
In the first year of the ministry, Sr. Dominica Marie gathered dozens of volunteers who made blankets, distributed finished blankets, donated yarn and materials, and spread the word about the ministry. Hundreds of blankets were made and distributed that first year.
Our blankets are blessed by ordained ministers specifically for the individual who will receive the blanket. Blankets come with a prayer card and holy medal. The person receiving the blanket is also placed on the Warmth of Love prayer list.
Since 2007 the Warmth of Love Ministry has continued to grow and develop. Today a steady network of volunteers helps Sr. Dominica Marie bring the warmth of God's love to suffering faithful all over the Southern NJ area and beyond.
